I’m sorry to say this wasn’t my idea. Well, maybe not sorry.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Is there a difference between seeking God and seeking the kingdom of God? Maybe, but I’m not convinced. What I am convinced of is if we endeavor to seek God – to look for His guidance, His will in everything we do, then our lives will be ever more filled with joy and satisfaction. So… HOW can we seek God?
The easiest way to start is by developing the habit of being thankful. You can start by praying for meals, if you don’t already. From there, whatever happens in your life – thank God for it. By whatever, I mean whatever – big things, little things all those things. Develop the habit of saying “Thank you”. Then what?
After a while, you should start noticing you are acknowledging God’s presence in your life. That is a good thing. Now expand on it. When a question comes to mind, or situation you don’t understand, ask God for enlightenment. Just ask for understanding or guidance or for whatever you feel the need.
Remember, since God is omnipresent, He is always with you. In addition to that, He says He will never leave you nor forsake you:
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Here on earth, we humans have a tendency to wander off. Think of a three-year-old at the county fair, surrounded by lights, people, and all sorts of enticing things. Given the chance, most will gleefully rush into the midst without a thought of Mom and Dad. Sometimes I wonder, in the scope of eternity, just how close we are, spiritually, to that three-year-old.
Fortunately, most of us need not mature much to start seeking God and the more we seek Him, the more He is able to bless us. How wonderful is that?
God bless,
Andy
