Call it procrastinating if you will, but I am just now getting around to writing a description for the print version of “Dirty Little Secrets” for Consumers. In my own defense, this is the first day of my release from my wife’s business. Yes, I volunteered and yes, I have had days off previously but I have no idea where they went. It’s all a fog. Anyway, this morning I sat down to contemplate continuing my life as a writer. So I made a list of things I need to do, writing-wise. (Because if I wrote a list of all the things I need to do, oi! I’d still be working on the list!) Topping the list is the description below.
I’m posting it here if you care to comment. Basically, m goal is to write something that would entice the reader to buy the book. Does this do the job or do I need to go back to the writing board?
Are you putting off buying life insurance because it’s just too complicated? You are not alone! With over 1,000 companies offering thousands of different polices, the worse thing about life insurance is there are too many choices. The good news is, it doesn’t have to be that hard to find the right policy.
A life-licensed insurance agent since 2013, Andrew Havens takes the mystery out of life insurance. Inside Life Insurance “Dirty Little Secrets” for Consumers Revealed! you’ll quickly learn how to unravel this seemingly complex world and get down to the simple basic facts you need to make smart choices. For instance: out of the dizzying array of policies offered by 1,000 + insurance companies, you’ll find you only need to look for one type of policy offered by one kind of insurance company. From there, you’ll find only a handful actually offer a policy that will actually meet your needs!
Even better… you’ll learn how to buy a policy that not only provides that crucial, all-important death benefit to protect your loved ones if the worse happens but how that same policy can do double-duty as the cornerstone to help you build financial stability.
Best of all you’ll learn about those “Dirty Little Secrets”, most agents can’t or won’t tell you. Don’t blame them. Most aren’t evil, they simply aren’t taught these things, nor are they really all that “secret”. The real secret is most individuals – agents or consumers – don’t know what to ask!
Inside you’ll find the information you need to make one of the most important decisions of your life – how to find and buy the right life insurance policy for you and how much you really need to protect the loved ones in your family.
Here is the original description. I wasn’t happy with it.
What you don’t know CAN hurt you!
Whether you already have life insurance or you know you need it – this book is for you! Too many consumers never think about life insurance until they are sitting in front of an agent. Why is this the exact wrong time to learn about life insurance?
You will only know what your agent tells you! Sure, you probably already know some things but you don’t know what you don’t know. Life Insurance “Dirty Little Secrets” lays out life insurance concepts in a simple, easy-to-understand book. It’s written for the “average Joe”, not for insurance professionals. What does it cover?
- What every consumer should know – before and after you buy
- How to find and secure the right coverage to protect your family from financial ruin
- How to protect your whole family affordably and why you should do it sooner than later
- How to include life insurance in your wealth building plan
- What insurance companies to avoid like the plague.
- How to find the right policy for you with the right insurance company.
- Why certain types of policies are disasters waiting to happen.
- The seemingly innocent but nasty check box on every insurance application – and why you should absolutely leave it unchecked! (“Dirty Little Secret” #4)
- Never fall for this sneaky policy loan trick! (It could cost you big time!)
- Why so many people have the wrong coverage and the rude awaking that awaits them.
- And more!
As a life insurance agent since 2013 and a life insurance consumer since 1996, Life Insurance “Dirty Little Secrets” for Consumers Revealed! explains basic life insurance concepts in simple, easy-to-understand language.
Why is “Dirty Little Secrets” in quotes?
First of all, they aren’t really secret. Everything is this book is public knowledge, available to anyone who asks the right questions. That said, few insurance professionals or companies will volunteer what I call “secrets”. When they do, they don’t always tell you the whole story. Are they really “dirty”? Well, that is a matter of opinion. Take for example a loan on a cash value insurance policy. Nearly every agent will tout how you can borrow against your cash value. Nearly every insurance company makes it fairly easy to borrow those funds. Great. When you go to pay that loan back, will they say you must specifically tell them to apply that money to the loan otherwise they’ll simply prepay your premium? And since your premium is prepaid your loan continues to accrue interest on the entire balance? It happens! You be the judge as to whether I’m too harsh calling this common practice a “dirty little secret”. You’ll learn about this and more inside.
Keep in mind, I tend to love everything I write, when I write it. Far too often I look at the same thing days or weeks later and wonder “What was I smoking when I wrote that crap?”
