Why is “Dirty Little Secrets” in quotes?
First of all, they aren’t really secret. Everything is this book is public knowledge, available to anyone who asks the right questions. That said, few insurance professionals or companies will volunteer what I call “secrets”. When they do, they don’t always tell you the whole story. Are they really “dirty”? Well, that is a matter of opinion. Take for example a loan on a cash value insurance policy. Nearly every agent will tout how you can borrow against your cash value. Nearly every insurance company makes it fairly easy to borrow those funds. Great. When you go to pay that loan back, will they say you must specifically tell them to apply that money to the loan otherwise they’ll simply prepay your premium? And since your premium is prepaid your loan continues to accrue interest on the entire balance? It happens! You be the judge as to whether I’m too harsh calling this common practice a “dirty little secret”. You’ll learn about this and more inside.
