Amazing how God works! Here is a link to Elizabeth “Madam Punisher’s” book.

You won’t get all the details for some time yet but I won’t keep you in suspense. In fact this principle is outlined in the very beginning of the book. Granted the two concepts are not identical in every way but you decide. Go ahead and check out Elizabeth’s article, then come back here and read on.
Done? Okay, the first thing I reveal in this book is a biblical principle called “blindness”. You’ll find it in several places in scripture. I refer to
2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
This is nothing new in the secular world either. Magicians use it all the time. Politicians use it to, for that matter. Their tactic is often called “misdirection”. Scientists call it “selective attention”. It is demonstrated in this short video (under 2 minutes). I won’t spoil it – go check it out.
Once you see it, you cannot “unsee” it. Why is this important? Simple. In this “age of information”, one of our biggest challenges is not that we have too little information but quite the opposite: we are swamped with information. Thus our challenge is not becoming informed but discerning truth from error. But that’s not all.
The Eye Sees What The Mind Tells It To See
Per the “Red Car Theory”, you don’t see the red cars until your mind tells you to see it. The same goes for any gorilla in the room. The same goes for scripture and our understanding of it. How many times have you read the same passage when, one day, WHUMP! – you are smacked on the side of the head with new understanding? Yes, it can be painful. More often than not it comes as a breath of fresh air, an epiphany.
So how does all this pertain to the purpose God has given you? And how does that pertain to spiritual warfare?
First you need to see the truth about spiritual warfare. What spiritual warfare is NOT is an epic battle between angels and demons. (Okay, it kinda is, but that is not the sort of spiritual warfare we need to concern ourselves with.) The fact is spiritual warfare, the sort we humans need to deal with, happens every day, everywhere around us. We just don’t see it because, wait for it… blindness.
As for your purpose – the reason God put you on this earth here and now… He doesn’t want to blinded. He wants you active and aware. His adversary, the devil, has had quite the run for a few centuries now. While he hasn’t “won” and never will, he’s got what looks like the upper hand. Don’t believe me? Just look around. The devil has infiltrated everything, even our churches. Not to worry, God is still in absolute control and He is on the move.
God is gearing up to unleash His awesome power on the earth. He is going to pour out His holy spirit upon the earth like never before – and he is going to do all this trough the Body of Christ. Just this morning God dealt me a WHUMP!
Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
Christ in you is the riches of the glory of the mystery Paul spoke of, but look deeper. What was Paul’s mission? “warning [admonishing] every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom“. Teaching every man what, exactly? “that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus“. Perfect? How about perfect as in “new man” perfect, as in that spiritual being we became when we accepted Christ?” Now check out the last verse above:
Colossians 1:29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
Paul was our example. He instructed us to follow his example.
Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
What did Paul do?
1 Corinthians 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
He did far more than that. He healed the sick. He worked miracles. He raised the dead. In other words, he did the works of Christ.
None of this is new to me. Not one bit. Where I got my WHUMP! was seeing the implications of what Paul was saying here on Colossians 1. He was reiterating those things he’d said before – how we members of the Body of Christ need to do those things he was doing, the things Christ did.
