Actually the title is for me. 🙂
I just want to replace that “hello world” post with something, but as long as I’m here…
This is a new site for me but it is far from my first site, though you may not know it to look at it. That’s because I’ve never been much for fancifying stuff. You can keep your bells and whistles. I prefer a nice quiet read.
So why did I do such a fool thing? Well, I’m about to launch my first two, count ’em, TWO ebooks. If you’re a reader I’m sure you know book series are all the rage. I’ve been a fan of series for most of my life, but this isn’t what’s happening here.
What is happening is each of these ebooks are written for different audiences. One is for consumers and the other is for agents.
The titles? I never thought you’d ask!
Life Insurance Dirty Little Secrets for Consumers Revealed!
Life Insurance Dirty Little Secrets for Agents Revealed!
Okay so here’s the story, or at least the short version. I am a licensed insurance agent. I’ve sold a lot of different things in my day and life insurance is one of them and my most recent experience. I’ve been licensed for about 8 years now but it wasn’t until last year that I went hole hog trying to sell. Life insurance telesales was hot and I wanted to give it a shot so I resigned from my day job, rented an office (I needed access to high speed internet I couldn’t get at home), and went to work. Well, I didn’t so so well and I had to give it up. However I learned a lot and upon reflection I felt I had some things to share.
The “dirty secrets” part is part marketing and a whole lot of truth. The fact is the life insurance industry kind of skims over some things people ought to know on both sides of the sales counter. Some of these things are pretty serious too. In addition to this, I personally feel the industry does a horrible job serving us. Hey, I’m a marketing guy at heart. Before you turn up your nose, the definition of “marketing” is “the sole purpose of a business is to meet the needs of the buyer at a profit“. Well, that’s how I phrase it anyway. An the life insurance industry sucks at it. It’s not for lack of trying, they’ve just lost sight of what’s really important in an effort to be everything to everybody.
As far as life insurance is concerned, the main purpose is to protect the insured’s family from the financial burden of his/her passing. There. Now you know and you can skip buying the book. 🙂
Well, okay, there is a lot more to it than that. I’m still putting the finishing touches on things – mostly the marketing aspect – so I’ll be able to offer some more details soon.
After these books are published I’m going to set to work on publishing my first novel. It is finished except for the final edits. I decided to get my feet wet on these short books first so I can make all my mistakes there. In my warped mind it’s easier to fix issues with a shorter book (about 100 pages each) than with a novel twice the size.
See ya soon!
